If you’re on a budget, need a nice place to stay and that is close to the action. I would recommend Apex Hotel on 2nd road. It is only 600b a night. I personally like be back section on the hotel. All the rooms in the back have marble floors. Now, there are hotels and guesthouses that are cheaper, but they are not as nice looking on the inside as Apex Hotel.

I really nice place to stay if you have the money is LK Metropole Hotel in Central Pattaya. You can get a 1 bedroom suite for the same price you can get a basic room at the Hard Rock Hotel (Trust me! You're just paying for the name at the HRH). If I remember correctly at LK Metropole Hotel the 1 bedroom suite is around 4000 baht a night.

Rates run bewteen 3000 for a Studio Room to 12000 baht for the Versace Suite. Internet rates are probly cheaper.

Any of the Sawadee Hotels:

Sawasdee Pattaya

Sawasdee Sabai

Sawasdee Sea

Sawasdee Siam

Sawasdee Sunshine

I have stayed in almost all of them at one time or another and have never had any problems.

But, I have heard a few people say that at the Sawasdee Sunshine Hotel. That they had paid for several nights and decided to check out early for whatever reason and was not given thier money back for the remaining nights.

I would like to add. The Flipper Lodge is by far the absolute best hotel in Pattaya and for the price and location and class of this hotel it can’t be beat.

I love the Apex Hotel...I always stay there. They have a cool ass lobby to only be 600b a night place.

I always found the Sawadee group a bit shabby, never stayed at the Apex but heard its nice, I used to stay in Hotels but as I am out here most of the time now I stay at the Canterbury Tales Cafe & Bookshop, easy to search as they have a website and can book online, they have some big rooms, the one I am in is 44 square meters and good facilities, free wifi, separate lounge and bedroom, balcony, all day English breakfast etc and a great bookshop.

I too quit staying in hotels. I always would rent a condo. I would rent a place at Nirun Condo. I had a studio apartment for around 5000b a month.

Nirun Condo is a friendly, quiet, central located. About half of the residents are farangs. The location is about 400 meter from Carrefour on Central Road from where you can catch a baht bus anytime, day or night. The complex has two swimming pools, two tree-lined streets with shops (restaurants, convenience stores, internet cafe, laundry, bars, gym, travel agencies, hair dressers, massage). There is 24/7 security and plenty of parking for both cars and bikes.

I have tried a few places like the Apex and they are ok but try the Canterbury Tales Cafe & Bookshop just around the corner, its a budget Guest House but well worth looking at as its a really good place and lots of Ex-pats as well as tourists so plenty of info and gossip about Pattaya.

There is the all day English breakfast too and a great bookshop with book exchange, they have everything in many languages and the exchange scheme allows you to get credit for 50% of the price off the next book.

I found a 2 yrs old Lonely Planet Lao & Cambodia for only a fraction of the price of the new one and hardly any thing has changed in 2 yrs in the lonely planet books as I looked at a new one which was 16 quid so a real bargain.

My Favourite is  Guest House, Canterbury Tale Cafe, I before spend big baht on hotel but with exchange rate bad I save and have same standard cleaness and great located.

They have website canterburytalescafe.com and has a huge big bookshop and exchange book.
